"Dad, baby spit up..."

We have this really cute home video of me when Julia was a baby. I'm playing with her and cooing at her as my dad holds her when all of a sudden she spits up on me. My reaction: "Dad, baby spit uh-up..."

Today I was babysitting this adorable little boy Isaac. He is so happy all the time. Anyone can get him to laugh just by looking at him. Lately he has been entertained by hitting people in the face. He thinks it is SO funny! So, to avoid being hit in the face yet again, I was teaching him how to do the "Indian Cheer" thing where you tap your hand over your mouth. He thought it was hilarious so I kept tapping his mouth. All of a sudden he puked all over me. Of course the tapping on his mouth only made it splatter even more. It was disgusting. Too bad I didn't have dad there this time to clean it up for me. ;)

Midnight Madness

"You're mad. Bonkers. Off your head. But I'll tell you something, all the best people are." - Alice in Wonderland

We are mad. Bonkers. And off our heads.

Why, you ask? Because we need to move into a rest home. Possibly. Or, maybe because we find it hard to eat popsicles near funny people. Or, because we are depressed...which leads us back to the popsicles.

If you haven't caught on yet, we are in a mood, a funny mood.

It all started when Julia and I sat in my room discussing life. We decided we were going to keep ourselves entertained because we find each other funny and pretty much the only thing we are good at is making the other person laugh. "We can't make money though." "We'll be poor people. Entertained poor people. No, eventually we'll be dead. So we'll be Entertained Dead People."

Julia also talked for a minute about stretching. Like stretching taffy, but not really. "I haven't stretched in like two weeks. Unless you count picking up trash at the pool." "Julia, that's like saying you haven't painted a room in ten years unless you count painting your toenails inside a room." We laughed. And then Julia realized she has picked up some taffy wrappers. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Me: How come I can't spell "stretched"?
Julia: Cuz you're smart!!!

You know those commercials, the ones where they ask several random questions that really apply to everyone? Well, we laugh at those. And then we like to make up more of our own. Here is an example:

"Do you often cry when you are sad? Do you wear a yellow jacket 24/7? Do you find it difficult to eat a popsicle when near a funny person? Do you bite yourself? Are you chewing on your hand at this exact moment? We caught you! You must be depressed!"

Spencer told us that the solution to our "life" is to go to an old folks home. He meant like work there but we thought of it as moving in, because we'd fit right in! We decided, for some reason, that they'd probably have a questionnaire for us to fill out as we tried to move in. It'd look something like this:

1. Have you fallen in the last 24 hours?
2. Do you need to be spoon fed?
3. Do you need a diaper change?
4. Do you eat like a dead fish?
5. Do you need to borrow teeth?
6. Do you want to be pushed around in a wheelchair?
7. Do you have a hard time remembering your own name?
8. Do you call everyone you come in contact with "Susan?"
9. Do you read the obituaries looking for your own name?
10. Do you use your teeth to scratch your ear?

And this is what our answers would be:

1. Yes in the parking lot on the way in, and I've got bruises to prove it!
2. I think I'd enjoy that...
3. Do I need a diaper?
4. Occasionally, just for my own personal enjoyment
5. I think mine will do just fine...
6. YES I DO!!!!! WEEEEEE!
7. Yeah, I sometimes call myself Susan.
8. Hey, that name sounds a little familiar...
9. Good idea! "Ssssuuuusan!!"
10. No, but can I borrow yours?

Um... Hi. :) :)

Sam

Sam is our dog.

We've had him for about two months.

I was still at school when we first got him and tried to decide on a name. Of course the matter of the name was a BIG deal. We all wanted our ideas to be considered and we all wanted something different. Julia wanted a "Human name," I wanted one that wasn't a name of someone or something we already knew, Mitchell wanted anything Spencer didn't want, and Spencer wanted Jeberkiah. We went all over the place trying to decide. I'd get a new text with about ten different names every five minutes. Finally I got the text. All it said was "Sam."

I'm not much of a dog person, but, believe it or not, when I came home for the first time when Sam was there I actually played with him for a bit. He's a good dog.

He found the right family, that's for sure. These few stories prove it.

Story #1:
Mitchell climbed into Julia's bedroom window and left the screen on the ground outside. Sam got a hold of it. When Spencer went outside to find a missing cord he came back and said, "I found the screen, but not the cord. Sam chewed up the screen and then hid it under his blanket." He was ashamed of what he had done and figured the best hiding place was under a blanket. Yep, he's a Goodworth.

Story #2:
About a week after setting up a shock collar so Sam couldn't get into the garden, my dad was so impressed with how well Sam had learned. He was so excited that he removed the shock collar and called it good. However, that weekend Spencer saw dog prints in the garden. Sam went back to his old ways.  When Mitchell went to put the collar back on and make sure it worked he discovered that Sam had dug up all of the wires around the garden. He did all he could to get out of that pain. Yep, he's a Goodworth.

Story #3:
One morning I woke up to see the sprinklers in the back yard were on. I figured someone had turned them on and they'd make sure to turn them off. However, after talking to everyone I realized that no one had turned them on. This happened again two other times that week. I honestly think it was Sam. He could have figured it out, after all, he's a Goodworth.

Sam doesn't always get fed. With so many people running around we just assume someone else did it. But, sometimes he gets over fed. With so many people running around we just assume no one else did it. Like I said before, I'm not much of a dog person, but Sam will do. :)

Stewart.

Once upon a time (two summers ago) in a land not too far from here (my house, actually) I sat in bed reading. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a winged creature flutter by.

Something you readers must understand is that I have a terrible fear of moths. And that is what I thought the winged thing was. I called out for Whitney and she came running to my rescue. After we took a closer look at the bug and realized he wasn't a moth we of course had to name him. And so we chose the name Stewart.

Stewart was a different type of bug, one we'd never seen before. He flew very slowly and almost appeared to have wings all around his body. We grew fond of him. But when we woke up the next morning Stewart was gone. Never to be seen again.

Until, that is, last night.

Whitney was home and we were sitting at the counter. I was writing a letter, she was on the phone, and my mom was making rice crispie treats. Spencer walked by and freaked out about something. A bug, he said. When I looked up and saw the bug I was so excited! STEWART WAS BACK!!!!

Not even a minute later my mom whacked him with a fly swatter.

And that was the end of Stewart. :(

Sneaking Out

I've never had an official sneak out before.

I say official because I've had two attempts. I was reminded of them today and thought I'd share.

My first experience with this was at my best friends birthday party. We slept in a tent in her back yard and we all wanted to sneak out. We had it planned way before the party. Anyway, we planned to go chalking. So after her parents thought we went out to the tent to sleep we tiptoed across the grass, through her front yard, and headed to the car. We went to Smith's and then decided what lucky house to decorate with our talent of chalking. But, once we got there we realized we forgot the chalk. So we just went back to her house and got back into the tent. Her dad asked her about it the next day, he could hear her dog barking. We did kind of sneak out, but I don't count it because it wasn't from my own home.

My next sneak out attempt was just last summer. Or around that time. It was a Sunday morning and we had some cousins over who left before church started, they had somewhere to be. We joked about not wanting to get ready after partying with them all night. And so when they left, Julia, Mitchell, Spencer, and I decided to go hide and see how long it took for our parents to come tell us to get ready for church. Julia, Mitchell and I hid in my room between the dresser and the wall. It's a very small space and there was no room at all, but we fit. Spencer closed himself in my closet and we just sat there, waiting. And waiting. Spencer couldn't hold still and kept saying how "squished" he was because of all the shoes. We thought it was funny because he probably had way more room than the rest of us. Anyway, about ten minutes later my dad walked in, looked at the closet door and said a cheesy remark that was meant to let us know he knew we were in the closet. Which we weren't in the closet, just Spencer. But then he left.

We didn't know what to do. Should we give up the game and just go get ready? Should we stay there all day? Or should we climb out my window? CLIMB OUT THE WINDOW!!!! :) And so we did. We climbed out my bedroom window and sat there for a bit, hiding from our neighbor, hoping that he didn't see us. We pretended to be secret agents as we held our hands in guns and crawled around to the back of the house. It was about a half hour later when we decided to take it a step farther. We called the house. We could hear my dad from inside answer and we all started to laugh and just hung up. After about ten more minutes we secret agented again and headed back through my bedroom window. We put the screen back in place and took up our hiding places once again, as if nothing had happened.

When no one came we decided to move. It was a tight fit and rather uncomfortable. We walked out to the kitchen to find my dad eating lunch. He didn't seem too concerned by the fact that we were still in pajamas. I don't know if they ever even found out about us climbing out the window and running around the house like the weirdos that we are (guess they'll find out now since they are some of the few people who read this) so I guess it could count as a sneak out. But we didn't really leave our yard so I still think of it as an unofficial one.

One day I'll sneak out for real. And it will be great. ;)

Lists

The summer before my senior year I went through this weird phase where I loved making lists. I don't know why I enjoyed it so much, but I did. I'd make lists of random movies, of things I could see, of things I should have changed, and of random facts about me or people I knew. It only lasted about a week so I don't have too many lists. But I found them funny and thought I'd put one on here. :)

5 Random things about me right now (August 3, 2009 @ 12:21 am)
1. I think that "golf" is one of the weirdest words ever
2. I need to see the Wizard of Oz to get courage
3. My knees are tanner than the rest off my legs by a lot!
4. My fingernails look like a rainbow threw up on them.
5. I love Reese's!

And that is my list. :) At one point I even got Julia and Spencer to join in on the list making.

5 Random things about Spencer by Sorine (August 4, 2009)
1. He is the 5th of 6 kids
2. He gets a smug look on his face when he is trying to make a point
3. When he tells a story he starts from the beginning - the way beginning that usually has nothing to do with the rest of the story
4. He used to run around in his diapers constantly
5. He is pretty much always wearing socks.

5 Random things about Sorine by Julia (August 4, 2009)
1. She is 6
2. Her 18th birthday is in a couple of months
3. She wants to get married in the Manti Temple
4. She writes in her journal and reads her scriptures every night even when I want to watch a movie with her and she makes me wait.
5. She is the princess of EFY (not queen because she isn't married yet.)

And those are the lists. :) We sat in our front room forever making lists. We are easily entertained. :)
Just for fun, I'll make a list of right now.

5 things I hope to do this week
1. Finish cleaning my room/unpacking (yes, still working on that)
2. Go to the Zoo
3. See my best friend Alora!
4. Get a job!!!!
5. Stay happy. :)

The End. :)

Green Feet

I like to mow the lawn barefoot. It probably isn't the safest thing in the world, but I do it anyway. I love the feeling of freshly cut grass on my feet. I love that it turns my feet that green color. And I love watching the water in the tub turn green when I wash my feet afterwards.

Yesterday, I mowed the lawn. Barefoot. My mom saw I was going to do it barefoot and said "That isn't the best idea, you might cut off your toes." I got to thinking about it, and why the heck would I let my toes get under the lawn mower anyway? I'm not that tall, hence I don't have long legs. When I push the mower my feet are kinda far back there. I think my toes will survive.

While I was mowing, I thought about how when I was little and we'd play with the cut grass. We'd play this game where we'd make bird nests on the tramp. We'd put eggs (rocks) in our nests and then say go and try to steal everyone else's eggs (rocks). Now that I think about it, it was kind of a pointless game. By the end the grass had flown everywhere so we couldn't even tell whose nest was whose anyway. I still want to play again. I want to jump on the tramp and watch the grass fly.

Seeing how we are now longer little (sad) we took the grass over to a family with horses because their horses love it. I decided that I want a horse. Really, really bad. :)

The End.
